Harrison County GOP Chairman tries to remove ten Democrats from the ballot, successfully removes one Independent...

On Friday, July 15th, the Harrison County Election Board met to hear eleven challenges to recent candidate filings for November’s election, made by GOP chairman Scott Fluhr.

Ten of the challenges were Democratic candidates, all filed with the same two clerical errors made on each filing. The Harrison County Clerk’s office failed to notice the errors and filed the paperwork to completion, which resulted in neither party noticing until after the July 5th deadline. Fluhr filed the challenges on July 13th.

After hours of debate, the election board voted 2-1 to reject the challenges and retain the Democratic candidates.

The additional challenge was made to independent candidate Jesse Sater’s filing. After reviewing his collected signatures, the board voted 2-1 to remove him from the ballot.
